This beer was the first to rest in Whiskey Barrels sourced from a renowned Australian distillery. Prior to the whiskey, these barrels previously held Pedro Ximinez fortified wine. In addition, these smaller 100L barrels have resulted in a rich infusion of whiskey and oak flavour, due to the increased surface area reaction between the beer and wood. On the nose expect strong aromas of whiskey, oak, chocolate and sherry. It pours a rich black-ish brown colour with ruby red highlights. On the palate, it drinks with a smooth and warming sensation with the initial whiskey induced alcohol heat fading away to fortified wine and oaky notes, brimming with dried fruits such as raisins, figs and dates and rounded out by a subtle vanilla-y sweetness.
